Fabulous Raffle Prizes, Hand massages, goody bag items and special offers from Neal's Yard Proceeds from this event to Ovacome Added On 12/10/2009 Ovarian cancer event held to raise awareness A sparkling event has been held to raise awareness about ovarian cancer. The 1230 Magical Moments event took place in the Canary Wharf Tower in London on 25 September and was supported by June Poster with a Frank Usher fashion show and Magic Circle member Matthew Duggan. It was organised by 1230 The Women’s Company (TWC), a national businesswomen’s network with head offices based in Bromley, and hosted by Abbey Business Centre. Proceeds of £600 from the event will go to the charity Ovacome. Ovacome supports those affected by ovarian cancer. Co-founder of the company, Jackie Groundsell, said: “Early diagnosis is the key to survival, we want to do all we can to inform women of the symptoms of ovarian cancer, and raise funds for Ovacome.” “We are delighted that Magical Moments raised over £600 for Ovacome, and there are many business women in 1230 TWC network actively supporting Ovacome and their wonderful work. However more must be done to raise awareness amongst women and clinicians”. Special Guest, actress Jenny Agutter, who is a patron of the charity Ovacome, expressed her support for women battling this little talked-about condition. Persistent pelvic and abdominal pain, difficulty eating and feeling full quickly, and increased abdominal size and persistent bloating are just some of the symptoms to be aware of. Later during the evening Jenny treated those attending to a presentation of “Fashion in the Film Industry”. A snapshot of some of the dress styles Jenny had worn through her expansive film career from a young girl to the current day and the stories behind them. Ovacome Chair of Trustees Noeline Young concludes “A big thank you to 1230 TWC and the team for the wonderful event on Friday night”.
