What happens at a 1230 TWC Meeting?
You'll be greeted by the 1230 TWC Manager.

You will be given a name badge.

The 1230 TWC Manager will give you:
* Current 1230 TWC news
* an outline of the programme for the remainder of the lunch-meeting

Everyone has an opportunity at every meeting to deliver a one-minute presentation. Please note, one-minute presentations are timed so as not to devalue the meeting's five-minute presentation (Take5 - see below).

How will I network with other business women at meetings?
You will be introduced to someone of your choice and/or an existing member of 1230 TWC.

If the meeting is seated, the 1230 Manager will at some point ask everyone to change places to maximise networking opportunities. You will be given a list of everyone present.

When are the 1230 Meeting times?
Each 1230 Meeting takes place on the same day each month, starting at 12.30 and finishing between 2.00 - 2.30 pm. Our venues are always flexible for people to continue networking after this time if they wish. Meeting dates and times are posted on the 1230 website.

Do I need to book in advance to attend a 1230 TWC Meeting or can I just turn up?
Although you are welcome at all 1230 Meetings if you find yourself unexpectedly free at the last minute, you really should book in and pay in advance because the 1230 Manager running the group needs to book space and refreshments. Also your name and business will then be added to the list of those attending. The list, which everyone attending will receive, is a useful promotional opportunity for your business.

What is Take5?
At each meeting one 1230 Member has the opportunity to make an extended presentation. Take5 is this 5 minute talk on the subject of the member's choice. You can use this opportunity to tell others in more detail about your business or you might want to use the chance to brainstorm ideas or seek good advice from others present. This opportunity is only open to 1230 Members and is arranged in advance in conjunction with the local 1230 Manager.

Can I display my company brochure or products at meetings?
Yes. Up to two 1230 Members can do this at a meeting. Book ahead with the local 1230 Manager and pay £10 to take advantage of a table display for your products or literature. This offer is only open to 1230 Members.

Why do I need to join 1230 TWC to attend meetings?
Because 1230 TWC is a members' organisation. Non-members may attend any two 1230 TWC Meetings before deciding to join. They pay £10 more than the 1230 Member lunch-time meeting price.

What if I join and then I don't manage to get to 1230 TWC Meetings?
You will be missing a great opportunity to build an excellent business support network. There is no doubt that networking provides everyone with a way to build contacts, many of whom will become good and trusted contacts. These contacts will only recommend you and your business when they get to know you, understand your business and know what you are seeking. This does not happen overnight and it does require regular attendance at meetings so that other 1230 Members get to know you.

How many meetings can I attend each month?
1230 Members can attend as many 1230 Meetings as they wish. You are a member of 1230 TWC nationwide, not simply a single group.

At meetings will there be other 1230 TWC Members from the same business sector as me?
Unless your business is a very unusual one, the answer is quite possibly yes.

Why don't you restrict 1230 Meetings to only one woman from each business type?
Having more than one member at a 1230 Meeting running similar businesses is, we believe, a positive experience. Members can share their business experience and help each other. We have a number of success stories where 1230 Members are now working together, sharing premises and collaborating.

What does my 1230 TWC Meeting fee pay for?
The 1230 Meeting price for members is for attending the 1230 Meeting. It covers the organisation and management costs of running the meeting and the business support and networking provided. It is important to understand that you are not paying for the meal; you are paying for the opportunity to attend the 1230 Meeting.

So the food is the same at all 1230 TWC Meetings?
No. Food will vary depending on the 1230 Meeting location. Hotels', restaurants' and venues' menus and charges vary hugely and 1230 TWC always helps Managers to get the best price. Remember, the 1230 Meeting charge is not simply for food. It is for the business opportunity. However, our aim is always to provide the best 1230 Meeting experience possible and that includes refreshments. Food is provided at a convenient time during 1230 Meetings. At some meetings food will be served as a buffet, at others it will be a seated meal.

I have special dietary requirements. Will there be something for me to eat?
Provided you book in with the local 1230 Manager in good time and let her know what your requirements are she will be able to arrange something suitable.

What if there isn't a 1230 TWC Meeting in my area?
If there isn't a 1230 Meeting close to where you live or work then you might like to consider starting one. Currently all our 1230 Managers run their own businesses or work in businesses where they need to build contacts, or just want to give support to other business women. Email us at hr@1230.co.uk

If I don't run my own business can I be a 1230 TWC Manager?
1230 Managers are key people in the success of the organisation. We are happy to talk to any woman who is interested in helping others build their business support network. You don't have to be working at the moment and you might want to consider 1230 TWC as a business opportunity for yourself. You would need to have some business experience, have access to the internet and email and be a confident mixer.

If I want to become a 1230 TWC Manager how will I learn what to do?
1230 TWC has monthly training days for women who want to become 1230 Managers and run their own group or groups. We have extra training days whenever possible and, increasingly will be training via our digital TV and online phone conferencing.

Can I talk to some 1230 TWC Managers before I decide to apply?
Of course! We do encourage you to do this, and to attend at least two different 1230 Meetings before you apply. If you decide to run a group, we encourage 1230 Managers of neighbouring groups to come along regularly to support your meetings, and we recommend that you do the same.

Who will help me to run my 1230 TWC Meeting?
1230 TWC is available on the telephone or by email to support 1230 Managers - we are always there for you. Each week there is a live digital TV broadcast from head office which you can watch from your office on your computer. The broadcast keeps you informed and includes training where required. You can interact with us and other 1230 Managers online. If you miss the broadcast, it is archived so you will be able to catch up on the 1230 TWC news at a time convenient for you.

Can I earn money running a 1230 TWC Meeting?
Yes you can and our most successful 1230 Managers have proved that. 1230 Managers are self-employed. Any profit on running a 1230 Meeting is yours. We also have a generous incentive scheme for 1230 Managers who recruit the most members.

How do I apply to be a 1230 TWC Manager?

So how does 1230 TWC earn money?
1230 TWC income is currently raised from the membership fees. Membership fees cover salaries, training and incentives, travelling costs, website, marketing, communications and postal charges.

Does 1230 TWC run any other events?
Yes. 1230 TWC runs a business conference each year - Any Other Business? This event is for all business women, 1230 Members and non-members, and includes excellent speakers, lively and informative workshops and there is always a panel of inspirational business women to meet. The date - Thursday 13 March, 2008 - should be in every 1230 Member's diary!

In 2007 1230 TWC also organised Tea in Style at The Savoy hotel in London. This event was sponsored by The Savoy and Frank Usher Group who arranged a fashion show. The event was attended by 180 business women and their colleagues, girlfriends, mothers, daughters and sisters.

What is 'invite a girlfriend' month?
In September women friends and relatives can be invited as non-members to 1230 Meetings. This way we increase our networks and also our opportunities.

Can I sponsor 1230 TWC?
Sponsorship of 1230 TWC is an excellent way for any business to promote itself and is actively sought by 1230 TWC. Opportunities are varied.
