My interest in vintage glamour began in an unexpected way.... My BlogsSuccess! Thank you to the ladies from 1230 TWC who supported the burlesque afternoon tea - what a fabulous time we had! Our brilliant performers were true to the definition of "burlesque" and had the audience in stitches ("burlesque" means to send up in a comic fashion). Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer entertained us with his banjolele singing songs of Chap Hop (hip hop re-worked with the Queen's English!!) "Ethel" was our OAP who turns into a glamorous burlesque star with the help of some red shoes. Miss Domino Burlesk went shopping with her visa cards in "Hasta La Visa Baby". Last but not least, Miss Glory Pearl performed a beautiful feather fan dance that captivated us all. Shopping was on the menu for lots of ladies who took home burlesque goodies, hair flowers and beautiful vintage style jewellery (courtesy of Fiona Coppard's Electra Jewellery). We've got some exciting new events coming up so keep your eyes peeled for more news!! More tickets have been sold this week and I'm almost hoarse from talking about it so much! The interest has been incredible (from ladies and gentlemen of all age ranges) and we've even got an exclusive full page spread from a nice glossy magazine (can't say who at this stage). What a busy week of talking to people about the burlesque afternoon tea! One reoccurring theme is ladies complaining they are sick of the World Cup already. Well how about treating yourself to a totally different afternoon out? Gather your friends, wear your finery and join us at The Old School House, Chapel Place, Tunbridge Wells for a delightfully different way to take afternoon tea - with a twist of burlesque cabaret! Went to the most fantastic show on Friday night in Hastings - aptly titled "Burlesk". Filled with lots of great acts and plenty of whooping and hollering! Sunday was spent taking tea, with a wonderful performer who is going to become a very integral part of BooBoo Burlesque with her unique skills and talents..... watch this space for more news. It's all very exciting (and nerve wracking!) as it starts to become a reality. Performers have been booked, the venue is primed and the shimmies are ready to shake!! A glass of fizz on arrival will be followed by a full afternoon tea with delightful burlesque cabaret as a pleasant interruption. It's all happening at The Old School House, Chapel Place, Tunbridge Wells TN1 1YQ on Thursday 8th July 2010. Doors open at 12.30pm and finishes at 2.45pm (in case any mum's have to get to schools).
